PLS Media CEO George Newman today confirmed in a press conference that Chris Reyes will be joining the upstart network as President of Entertainment. The President reports directly to the CEO and is seen as a stepping stone to that position.
Reyes who has the daunting task of building network content from scratch was on hand in New York to talk to media. “I am extremely honored to have been promoted to this position and to accept the responsibilities that your trust has entitled me to. I’d especially like to extend my gratitude to President Newman for giving me this opportunity to be part of this venture. While there is no ‘sure-fire’ list of success factors for TV shows, I firmly believe that with the right direction and leadership, PLS can generate fresh, engaging programs that audiences will appreciate and I promise to put forth my best effort to see that it succeeds in every way possible.”
Prior to assuming her current role, media entrepreneur Reyes served as co-president of the ReyesTV entertainment group. The fledgling company was founded with a mandate to create original series with culturally-diverse casts, with a specialization in the Latino market. Though the network produced programs that focused on the female demographic, it found that many of its series found success in nearly every market including the coveted males 18-49. Her company has since produced over 4000 hours of programming, bridging multiple television genres and establishing a multitude of hit shows for the network.
Often breaking the boundaries of what constitutes women’s programming in her own company , Ms. Reyes looks forward to molding PLS Media into an innovative entertainment entity targeted at America’s heartland.
The 29 year old native of Bakersfield California has her work cut out for her with upcoming tasks of hiring a couple VP's of Entertainment, shaking the bushes for content, and of course helping to create the name and branding for the newest American television network.
