CEO George Newman continues to work tirelessly on adding new network affiliates for a network that to date still has no name, no shows, and no studio. "This just shows there is a hunger out there for what we envision, a return to quality television, a void left when MyTV went to a programming service" said Newman at a recent press junket.
With 17 of the top 18 DMA's already delivered Newman and his team are working to fill out the country's smaller markets with PLS' new network.
For instance, Fresno which is the 55th largest market was added on KAIL TV. The new network was looking to replace MyTV as the primary station there, but had to settle for replacing RTV (Retro Television) on the fairly new digital subchannel. "It wasn't a complete win" acknowledged Newman, "but we believe in establishing this relationship. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a switch between us and MyTv in Fresno before the end of 2010."
The other station added was another hard fought victory as well, in market #73, Toledo, Ohio. The new sixth network as its being called in the press, will be found on WDFM LP 26. "The good news" stated Newman, "is that the station is owned by Clear Channel, and its always great to get your foot in the door on a large station group like that. The bad news I guess is that they are not considered a Toledo station per say, they are an "outlaying area" station originating from Defiance, Ohio, and received in Toledo". Well it may not be a clear win but you have to love the perky network that can set up shop in a town called Defiance!
The total number of affiliates currently signed up is 46, but its believed that the new network would already be received in half the homes in the United States.
